10 Things about Me

At the beginning of each semester, I have students get to know one another by playing a game.  They tell the class three things about themselves, one of which is not true, and the other students have to guess which one isn't true.  I like lists of things you might not guess about a person, so I'll do one here, except . . . one of these things isn't true.

1.  I taught ballroom dancing at an Arthur Murray studio.

2.  I spent a summer in Germany with my relatives when I was in high school.

3.  I ice skated competitively as a kid and had dreams of going to the Olympics (all of which came to nothing).

4.  I had a poem published in a magazine when I was 15.

5.  I enjoy a kind of embroidery called "blackwork," which had its origin around the time of Queen Elizabeth (the first).

6.  After nearly flunking out of college the first time around, I graduated summa cum laude with my bachelor's degree.
7.  In my early 20's, I was part of a singing sextet at a fancy restaurant for a year.

8.  My mother was a successful artist whose line of sculptures was collectible and can be found on eBay.

9.  My father was in vaudeville at the age of five.

10.  I am a "bird person" who has had bird companions from a tiny parrotlet to a huge Moluccan cockatoo.

So which do you think is not true?  :)

Becky, I'm sorry, the last one is true -- I lost the cockatoo (Tybbie) in the divorce, sadly, but I had her for seven years or so, along with other birds. Thanks, everyone --

Nope :) My father basically supported his family during the Depression by working in vaudeville and being on the radio in soap operas in New York City. Thanks for your comment!

This is tough, they all sound realistic. I'll pick number 6. I can't imagine you almost flunked out of college. ;)

Well . . . I pretty much did. I left before they kicked me out :( I really wasn't ready for college the first time I went.

I think they are all true at least even if they are not I am sure they would make a person Happy OK not the flunking thing but accomplishing it when you were ready. B

Elise Ann Wormuth said...

Thanks, Buttons, but one for sure is not true.

I think they are all true, at least, in this land of virtual reality. I have no clue, Elise.

Doesn't matter -- you are a talented lady and I love your blog no matter what is fantasy and what is reality. :)

PS -- thanks for linking up to Your Sunday Best. I truly appreciat it!

Number one! (that isn't true) It's just a gut feeling......

Elise Ann Wormuth said...

Nope -- I did teach ballroom dancing. I was a great teacher but terrible at selling lessons, which was the whole point of the thing . . .

Wow...I'm impressed at all you have done. Great shots...

Update much, much later --

#4 is not true -- I didn't have a poem published when I was 15 (or any other time, really --
