If I Never Hear That Song Again . . .

I'm going to deviate from the NaBloPoMo prompts, because a while ago I asked this question of my Facebook friends and it caused a lively discussion.  Here goes:

What are the songs that if you never, ever, heard them again in your life, that would be just fine?

I'll throw out a couple to start; jump in and add your no-nos to the list.  For me, it's

The House of the Rising Sun
Summertime
Anything by Supertramp

Maybe this will stir up a little controversy -- if so, great!  What songs do you never want to hear again?

And here's a flower for Macro Monday:

and Texture Tuesday

If you're in the US, hope you're having a restful Labor Day; if not, I hope you're having a good day too.

"feelings"

ever since the gong show (yes, i'm really dating myself, now) aired one episode where every contestant sang "feelings", i've never wanted to hear that song again.

Summer in the City - Lovin' Spoonful
This song reminds me of my first boyfriend. Every time I hear it I'm transported back to the day we broke up. Is there anything more devastating than your first broken heart?

And...

Celebration - Kool and the Gang
It was played, played, and re-played so much I still can't stand to hear it.

...and gorgeous flower!

Well, I'm going to have to unfollow you now, lol. House of the Rising Sun has to be one of my all-time favorites. But I'll follow you back because Supertramp is just plain irritating. :)

I'm sorry -- I've been listening to House of the Rising Sun for forty plus years by everybody and his brother (and Cher)and I just can't listen to it any more.

Roan -- I still like summer in the city! It reminds me of happy times in high school -- I guess it was never involved in a break-up for me . . .

El Paso by Marty Robbins. I absolutely loved this song until a boy I despised played it on the jute box and got up in front of a large group of my friends in a crowed pizza parlor and announced to everyone that it was HIS song to me. I guess the songs that we never care to hear again are ones that bring back memories we wish to forget.

hmmm, not sure about any one particular song, but I am not that fond of rap music...give me a oldies (40's big band) any day over rap. But I always love a beautiful flower like yours!!

Great macro shot. There's nothing from the 60s or 70s that I would care to not hear again, but the 80s and on, I can take it or leave it.

Oh Deanna and Bettyl -- there's not a single song from the 60's or 70's that makes you reach for the volume control or station changer when it comes on? "Fill Me Up, Buttercup"?

Another day we'll discuss songs that you could listen to for the rest of your life and never get tired of :)

Very pretty flower!

I could do without pretty much any song that plays on the radio these days. I can't think of any particular titles at the moment, but that's probably a good thing!

Wow, I love the colours of your flower - just beautiful - and I love the textured/bokeh effect in the background.
Anything by the Beatles irritates me - although I probably stand alone saying that! - especially 'Michelle my belle'!
Thanks so much for visiting my blog - I've enjoyed yours and shall be back!

Lol I never grow tired of hearing the Beatles, but then they are pretty much the soundtrack of my youth. That said, I get how "Michelle" can wear on you. The best time I heard it, though, was when Paul McCartney sang it to Michelle Obama. Before beginning, he said "I hope I won't be the first person to get punched out by the President of the United States." :)

Oh, this is easy!!
"Short People," by Randy Newman.
Now I am not short, but I can just imagine if one was when that song came out. :-(

Neat question, Elise!

Elise Ann Wormuth said...

LOL Randy Newman's one of my favorites, except for "Short People" -- :)

Our little podunk radio station plays some pretty obscure music and I ALWAYS change the station when they play "Ringo" by Lorne Greene!! Aaarrgh!!

I'd have to agree with "House of the Rising Sun" - years ago we had a band living in the apartment next to us and I think that's the only song they ever did - badly but loudly.

LOL at least is wasn't "Louie Louie"
